# Disabling malware protection
[Yandex Browser](https://browser.yandex.com/) uses malware [protection](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/security/virus-protection.md) that blocks infected sites and pages. You can disable this protection:
Other computer users or [malicious extensions](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/security/check-extensions.md) can also disable your protection without notifying you. If protection is disabled, malicious codes may infect your computer or give hackers access to your [personal information](https://yandex.com/support/common/en/security/phishing.html) and electronic payments.
That's why Yandex Browser will warn you if your protection against malicious software was disabled and suggest that you enable it:
To re-enable protection, click the **Enable** button in the message. You can also enable protection in the settings.
1. In the upper-right corner, click **** → **Settings**.
1. Go to the **Security** tab at the top of the page.
1. Under **Threat security**, disable the option **Run security checks on websites and downloaded files**.
