# Incognito mode

Use Incognito mode to keep your [search queries](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/search-and-browse/search.md#suggests) and [browsing](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/search-and-browse/history.md) secret. [Yandex Browser](https://browser.yandex.com/) won't save your [passwords](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/security/passwords.md) and [autofill](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/personal-data-protection/autofill.md) data, search queries, history, and URLs of visited pages. But all changes to settings, [downloaded files](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/working-with-files/download-files.md), and [bookmarks](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/favourites/izbrannoe-search.md) are saved.

## What Incognito mode protects you from {#who-knows}

In Incognito mode, browsing history and other data are not saved. They won't be available to:

- Website owners who collect data for marketing purposes.
- People who may get access to your computer.

However, information about your activity will be available to your internet provider (if it uses [DPI](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_packet_inspection)), the administrator of the local network through which you access the internet, and the administrator of the site on which you enter your personal data.


## Turning Incognito mode on and off {#open}

Open a window in Incognito mode using any of the methods:

- Click **![](../_image/settings-icon.png)**&nbsp;→ **Incognito mode**.
- Right-click the link and select **Open link in Incognito mode**.
- [Press](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/useful-features/hotkeys.md) **Ctrl** + **Shift** + **N** (on Windows and Linux) or **⌘** + **Shift** + **N** (on macOS).

An Incognito window is marked with the ![](../_image/incognito-window-icon.png) icon.

By default, Incognito mode blocks [third-party cookies](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/personal-data-protection/ytp.md) that collect information about the user and send it to other resources. To allow third-party cookies, disable the **Block cookies from other websites** option on a new tab.

To exit Incognito mode, close the window. Yandex Browser will delete the [cookie files](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/personal-data-protection/cookies.md) that were created while working in this window.


## Extensions in Incognito mode {#additions}

By default, [extensions](https://browser.yandex.by/help/en/personalization/extension.md) are disabled in Incognito mode. Some of them can be enabled manually. To turn on the extension:

1. 1. Click **Details** under the description of the extension.
1. Enable the **Allow Incognito mode** option.
